Wastewater Watch 2026

A global initiative to capture the first simultaneous snapshot of public health through wastewater, launching Summer 2026.

On a single coordinated day, participating countries across the globe will collect a wastewater sample. These be analysed both in the host lab (where possible) and at a centralised lab for joint analysis. Together, this will generate a unique global dataset providing insight into antimicrobial resistance, pathogens, pharmaceuticals, and wider human health indicators. This initiative is part of the GLOWACON, the Global Consortium for Wastewater and Environmental Surveillance for Public Health.

We are now inviting organisations and researchers across the globe to participate in Wastewater Watch 2026
